QR codes and sharing
One code gets guests into everything. Here is where to find it, how to share it, and what to do when it will not scan.
What you need
- •A screen or a printed card showing the code
- •Guest phones
How the host controls it
- •The same code covers every game in the event
- •Codes can be shown full screen or shared as a link
- •Codes do not expire
Who it suits
Everyone who runs a game.
How guests join
Guests point their phone camera at the code - no app needed - or open the link and type the short code.
How you win
Not a game.
How it ends
Not a game.
Step by step
- 1Find the codeThe QR code is on the host screen and on the event card in your Events list. There is usually a button marked QR or Share.Take me there
- 2Show it on the screenMost host screens display a large code at the touch of a button - the quickest way to get a whole room in at once.
- 3Share the link insteadEvery code has a matching link. Copy it into a group chat, a WhatsApp message or the invitation for guests who are not in the room yet.
- 4Put it on the tablesPrinted table cards get more guests playing than a code on a screen, especially during dinner.
- 5Test it yourselfScan your own code on your phone before the event. It takes ten seconds and confirms the event, the games and the link all work.
Common problems
The code will not scan
Turn the screen brightness up, hold the phone closer, and check the code is not reflected in a window. If it still fails, share the link instead - the code and the link do the same job.
Guests say the link opens an error
Open the link yourself. If your event is not switched on, or the game inside it is inactive, guests cannot get in. Activate them and try again.
A guest has closed the page
They can join again with the same code and their card comes back - nothing is lost.
