Editing Songs Guide

A step-by-step walkthrough for uploading, trimming, mapping, and playing songs in Big Day Bingo.

Responsibility Disclaimer

Big Day Bingo is not responsible for any songs played during events. Hosts and users are solely responsible for ensuring they have the appropriate licences, permissions, or rights for any music they upload, map, or play at their venue or event. This includes uploaded audio files, Spotify playback, and any other music source used within the platform. For public or commercial events (pubs, clubs, corporate), ensure you have the correct music licensing (e.g. PRS/PPL in the UK) for playing music to an audience.

1. Access the Sound Library

Go to Dashboard โ†’ Music & Songs โ†’ Sound Library. This is your central hub for all uploaded audio. Every sound you upload appears here with its title, artist, duration, and current number mapping (if any).

You can also access the Sound Library from the Song Library icon in the top navigation bar (if your admin has enabled it).

The Sound Library is personal to your account โ€” your uploads are private and not shared with other users unless you choose to share them.

2. Upload a New Song

Click the "Upload Sound" button. Select an MP3, WAV, OGG, or M4A file (max 25MB). Enter the title and artist name so you can easily find it later. The file is stored privately to your account and appears in your library immediately after upload completes.

Supported formats: MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A. Files play directly in the browser โ€” no special software needed.

Name your files clearly (e.g. "Artist - Song Title") so you can identify them quickly when mapping.

3. Trim the Clip with the Waveform Editor

Click "Edit" on any sound to open the waveform editor. You'll see a visual waveform of the full audio file with a green start handle and a red end handle. Drag the green handle to set where playback starts and the red handle to set where it ends. Only the selected section plays during the game โ€” perfect for jumping straight to the chorus or the most recognisable part.

You can also type exact start/end times in seconds (e.g. 28.5 for 28 seconds in) for precise control.

Trim to the most recognisable 10โ€“20 seconds โ€” usually the chorus or opening hook. Players need just enough to identify it.

4. Preview Your Trim

Click the play button in the editor to hear exactly what will play during the game. Adjust the handles until it sounds right. The preview plays only the trimmed section โ€” what you hear is what players will hear. Once happy, click "Save" to store your trim points.

Cue points are stored per-sound and persist across all events. Edit them once and they apply everywhere that sound is used.

If a song has a long intro, trim past it so players hear the hook immediately when the number is called.

5. Map a Song to a Bingo Number

Back in the Sound Library, click "Map to Number" on any sound and pick a number from 1โ€“90. When that number is called in Big Day Bingo, the mapped song plays automatically โ€” trimmed to the section you set. Each number can have one mapped song at a time.

You don't need to map every number. Map your best 20โ€“30 songs and leave the rest unmapped โ€” unmapped numbers still get called, just without a song.

To change a mapping, simply map a new song to that number โ€” it replaces the old one. To remove a mapping, click the number badge and select "Unmap".

6. Playing During a Game

When you host a Big Day Bingo game and call a number with a mapped song, the trimmed clip plays automatically through your device speakers or connected audio. No manual pressing play โ€” it's all automatic. The called number is shown large on screen with the song name, and a history of all called items appears below.

Connect your laptop or tablet to speakers or a PA system so the whole room can hear the songs.

Unmapped numbers still get called โ€” they just don't play a song. This is normal and keeps the game moving.

7. Using Spotify Instead of Uploads

For Themed Bingo, you can use Spotify URIs instead of uploaded files. Each theme item can have a Spotify URI โ€” when called, the track plays through the Spotify Web Player in the host view. This requires a Spotify Premium account connected in your Profile. See the Spotify section of the Instructions page for full setup details.

Spotify Premium is required for full playback control (play, pause, seek, cue points). Free accounts cannot control playback.

Importing a Spotify playlist into a theme is the fastest way to build a song pool โ€” paste the URL in Manage Themes โ†’ Tools.
